“It is rather the building fits our lifestyle than we fit the building.” – with this kind of approach Takeuchi family designed a space where they can live every day with happiness and inspiration. The aesthetic world of two people are not shut between white walls. They are a big part of community through a cup of morning coffee and a love for art. The space is a combination of studio, cafe, living space and even museum, which they recall as ‘Museum of Art’.
Large windows overlooking a park and cherry blossoms feel like a part of interior. In urban and over-stuffed city like Tokyo, Takeuchi house fulfills Japanese beloved minimalistic, clean, aesthetic space with a wabi-sabi inspired idea “as simple as possible”. Even if it does look simple, the location of every piece of furniture has been thoroughly thought of while decorating the house.
“I get a lot of influence from the environment for my art, and the layout of a space is very important.” ー Mrs. Takeuchi

Sense of beauty and perfection applies to everything from the design of elliptical shape walls to a saucer and a little wooden spoon. The couple have chosen coffee beans from Peru and every morning after grinding and pour-over brewing the smell of fresh coffee fills the air. Both Takeuchi studied one year about coffee before opening a cafe, named ‘Oeuf’. The taste of their chosen coffee is exceptional with never felt before ‘airy’ and ‘clarity’ taste that comes from a brew.
